Ellie Hale with Watford Footballer Kit
Watford footballer and top notch chap,Ikechi Anya, stunned staff at an Oxfam store on Chequer street, St Albans last week when he donated a bundle of tracksuits and football boots.
Staff did not initially recognize Anya – a Scotland international with 17 caps under his belt – and it was only when he tweeted a picture of his donation that they realised who he was.
Abi Owen, the store deputy manager, said “he just came in and said ,’I have got some stuff I do not need – do you want it?” So we just took it not realising [who he was]. The only footballer I know is David Beckham!
The donation – a selection of Scotland football track suits, football boots and shirts – went on sale yesterday via the Chequer Street Oxfam ebay page.
Abi said we are trying to [raise as] much money as we can and we think that by selling it online [it] works better for stuff like this.
