‘Homeless’ James Beavis (2007) raises over £40K for homeless charity.
My names James Beavis and I’m going homeless for a month this Christmas on the streets of London to raise funds and awareness for the homelessness charity Crisis.
From the 9th of December until the 9th of January I will take to the streets, taking nothing but a bag of clothes and a sleeping bag. I will document this using a phone and aim to upload a video daily, though I will have no contact with family or loved ones during this time. I will beg for money and food and sleep in the street, trying to recreate as realistic an experience as possible.
The average Homeless man dies at 47 and the average homeless woman dies at just 43. To give you some perspective this is lower than Somalia. Crisis does incredible work throughout the year but at Christmas they do something truly special. When other shelters close their doors, Crisis open their arms, welcoming over 4000 guests who have no home. Not only do they offer kindness, warm food and somewhere to rest; they offer a route into longer-term support for those who are being failed by the system. However this comes at a cost and with your help we can make sure that everyone who needs support this Christmas can receive it.
