Enrichment and Tutorial
All subjects encourage students to use the super curriculum and subject enrichment ideas to enable students to develop a real love of their subject.
These suggestions and ideas include extra reading recommendations, journals, lectures, exhibition visits and trips. In addition, students in the sixth form are encouraged to broaden their curriculum choices by opting for an additional qualification or course during Year 12. They can choose from EPQ (Extended Project Qualification), Core Maths, Foundations in Financial Studies, or MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses – FutureLearn courses from a wide range of universities). The EPQ and Core Maths qualifications provide students with additional UCAS points, beneficial to any application to university, apprenticeship or employment. Information regarding the enrichment courses available can be found in the Sixth Form Prospectus on our subject courses page.
We have many successful senior sports teams including netball, trampolining, rugby and football. Additionally, our Year 12s enjoy a fun timetabled Games session once a week, which helps to establish new friendships and provides students with a reminder of the importance of healthy living and activities to support wellbeing.
Our work placement week in Year 12 provides the students with an opportunity to gain invaluable work experience within their chosen vocation. We provide students with a Future Options programme provided by our careers team; time dedicated for students to explore and gain unbiased advice on post-18 options – more detail is provided on our beyond sixth form page.
The sixth form tutorial and assembly programme supports students in their transition to adulthood, it provides a safe platform for them to explore current affairs, spiritual and moral decisions, equal opportunities, study skills and much more. Each week they debate and discuss topics, allowing them to appreciate and understand their place in the world around them.
