Aims & Ethos
Whilst fund-raising is a major part of the PTA’s activities and directly contributes to the improvement of the school, there’s a lot more to it. The PTA provides a great way to come together, to build the whole RPS community, including making links with the local area.
Our key aims are to:
- Fundraise through social events and activities and provide resources and facilities that may lie beyond the school’s budget
- Encourage involvement from parents, carers and our wider community
- Strengthen links between home and the school
Calendar of Events
We have an established calendar of events which are well supported, providing fun and relaxed opportunities to get together as a well as the chance to benefit from our community relationships:
– The PTA Quiz Night – our fantastic, annual flagship event, usually in March, during which we draw the Spring Raffle which offers amazing prizes donated by local businesses and our community
– Second Hand Uniform Sales – a sale is held once every school term, and is a great opportunity to recycle old uniform and purchase additional uniform items at a low cost as your children grow, with all profits going back to the school. Click here to see our price list.
– 10km Student Sponsored Walk – a fabulous biannual event that involves the whole school taking part in a local 10km walk
– Refreshments – at various parent/carer evenings at school
– Local Community PTA Fundraising – we partner with local schools and businesses to fundraise; including HRFC Fireworks Night tickets and FOHA Christmas Trees

Fundraising
We aim to raise approx. £10,000 for the school every year.
Over the last few years, the PTA has helped fund the following projects:
- New minibuses
- A fantastic library upgrade including new tables, flooring, a state of the art glass soundproof classroom within the library, as well as new shelves and bookcases
- New tables and chairs for the whole school
- New cricket nets and an artificial cricket strip
- Contribution to the new long jump pit
Our fundraising goals for this school year, 2025-2026, is to contribute towards upgrades in the Main School Hall to include soundproof doors and air conditioning – which will be particularly welcome during exam season. We will also contribute towards purchasing Team Building Equipment for use during our Enrichment Week (e.g. 4 way tug of war, team games, climbing wall kit etc) that will be re-used over the years.

Get Involved
Many secondary schools no longer have a PTA, please help us to keep ours going. No commitment is too big or too small!
We are always very grateful for any volunteers that can help run, or support, our events. With increasingly busy lifestyles it is not always easy to commit to all activities so we operate a bank of helpers who are emailed prior to each event to assist with different elements as their time allows. Without the support we receive from our committee members and helpers, the hugely beneficial projects we deliver would not be possible.
Please get in touch by emailing us at > pta@roundwoodpark.co.uk
As with any committee people move on, and we are always keen to welcome new volunteers who would be interested in taking on committee roles in the future. If you are interested we operate with the following roles:
Social Media/ Communications – keeping social media and the school website information up to date. Providing information for the school newsletter, RoundUp, and liaison with the RPS Communications Manager
Parents Evening Refreshments – supplying refreshments and coordinating volunteers for in-person parents evenings throughout the year
Events Organiser – working alongside committee members to organise our Annual Quiz & Comedy nights
Second Hand Uniform Sale Organiser – we host one sale per term; organisation of both the day itself and and the required volunteers
Chair – Chair of the 6 or so PTA meetings per year, liaison with the school on events and fundraising
Secretary – taking of Minutes at PTA meetings & arranging bookings for PTA events
Treasurer – Management of the PTA bank account, financial updates at PTA meetings and the filing of our annual accounts
