Welcome to the Sixth Form
Roundwood Park Sixth Form is special. Not only do we have an impressive record of achievement, but our enrichment, leadership and community-based opportunities provide students with much more than just a strong academic platform. Our students gain a breadth of experience that supports competitive applications to university, competitive apprenticeship courses and employment. We are proud and confident to say that the role models in our community are our Sixth Form students; they work alongside our exceptional team of staff to drive improvements, leading initiatives and enhancing the diversity of our school community. The Sixth Form students are at the heart of what we do, from presenting in assemblies, mentoring younger years, tutoring students at GCSE and running extra-curricular clubs in subjects they are passionate about.
Our ethos involves preparing our sixth formers to be ‘Roundwood Park Leavers’ who are successful lifelong learners, equipped with all the learning habits from our ASPIRE framework. We encourage each student to pursue their chosen career or direction of further study and we will support them accordingly with their chosen path. We see our role as one that is spread over four years and beyond – from mentoring and supporting Year 11 students with entry to our sixth form and choosing the correct courses, to welcoming back our students for their Year 14 awards evening and seeing their names proudly displayed on our destinations boards.
We are a large Sixth Form and welcome applications from students currently attending any school. Students that join our Sixth Form comment on how friendly and supportive all the staff and students are and how easy it is to settle in. Our newcomers add much to the community of our school and are supported by a team of experienced pastoral and support staff, and their tutor and House environment.
We have high expectations of our students, but we pride ourselves in building a nurturing, yet challenging level of study, enabling students to build confidence quickly in independently extending their learning. Whether the students are studying A levels or following Level 3 BTEC courses, each has an opportunity for leadership, excellence and friendship.
