Sixth Form Life
Students that join our Sixth Form regularly comment on how friendly and supportive all the staff and students are.
We pride ourselves in building a nurturing, yet challenging level of study, enabling students to build confidence quickly in independently extending their learning. Using the Roundwood Park ASPIRE habits established lower down the school, students quickly develop strategies and the foundations on which to build their new knowledge and skills.
We have high expectations of every student and encourage each to pursue their chosen career or direction of study. Our pastoral and academic programmes are based on embedding the Sixth Form mindset of Vision, Effort, Systems, Practice and Attitude; the five key elements to ensuring success, whatever future or specialist direction our students choose.
Sixth Form Facilities
During independent study periods, students can study in a range of learning environments from our Sixth Form Common Room for silent study, the dining room for collaborative and group tasks or our school library for quiet research and reading. The Sixth Form Common Room is also open to students after school and is overseen by a member of the Sixth Form team every day until 5.00 pm. We encourage students to manage their time effectively and many choose to stay after school to help keep on top of their demanding workloads.
The kitchen facilities can be used throughout the day, to make hot drinks and snacks. Geraghty’s café and the canteen also are staffed to provide Sixth Form students with food and drink options throughout the day; a much-loved perk of being a Sixth Form student!
The school has excellent WiFi and we encourage all students to bring in a laptop or other device. All of our subjects make use of Google Classroom to share resources and facilitate extended learning.
In addition, our superb ‘whole school’ facilities, including the sports hall, 3G pitch and the new technology and science laboratories are used extensively by Sixth Form students.
