I’m Mike Garbutt and I’ve been Head of Drama for the last 15 years at Roundwood Park School. I’m also the Head of the Expressive Arts Faculty and I can’t imagine feeling as driven and passionate in any other job!
Studying A level Drama is amazing and opens a huge amount of doors for University, careers and later life. We help to create directors, performers and designers – increasing your ability to lead and manage people, work to longer term goals and targets, present yourself and gain resilience and expand their ability to analyse and evaluate at the deepest level. Whether you want to be involved in the performance industry or not, we will help you develop skills that will serve you for life. If that wasn’t enough, you will also have a great time on your learning journey for the vast majority of the course.
We explore as much of our course content as practically as we can. We offer autonomous approaches to your research, home learning and the study pathways that enable you to take charge of your own assessments.
You will learn about influential theatre companies and practitioners and playwrights, devise your own pieces and either design or perform from published scripts.
