Welcome to Enrichment
Hello, I am Jennie Hall and I co-ordinate sixth form enrichment. We believe that a well-rounded education includes more than just A levels and BTECS, so all students (except those taking further maths) take up an additional enrichment subject in year 12. These subjects offer students the opportunity to learn valuable skills, extend their area of interest and gain extra qualifications which will support university or apprenticeship applications in year 13.
This September we will be offering a choice of five options:
AQA Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
Each student will develop a project idea, conduct independent research and produce a project report which they then present to a non-specialist audience. The qualification is marked mainly on the process and is equivalent to half a A’ level. The EPQ is highly prized by universities as students will develop the skills needed for independent study at degree level.
Level 2 Sport Leader Award
Students undertaking the Sport Leader qualification will learn the skills needed to lead basic physical activities for others in their community. The courses involve both guided & peer-to-peer learning and supervised leadership.
LIBF Certificate in Financial Studies
The course provides a comprehensive introduction to personal finance. Its purpose is to prepare students for further study through the development of the core skills of critical analysis and evaluation, synthesis, verbal communication (through classroom discussion) and written communication.
Future Learn MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses)
Students choose from a wide range of online courses developed by experts in universities across the world. Courses vary in length from 2 to 10 weeks and are completed during timetable lessons.
AQA Certificate in Mathematical Studies (Core Maths)
The course aims to deepen student’s competence in the selection and use of mathematical methods and techniques. It supports the quantitative and interpretive skills of students taking A’ levels in psychology, geography, biology or business. This is a linear course assessed at the end of Y13 and carries the same UCAS point value as an AS.
