From 2016-2020 I was working for Nanyang Technological University Singapore, conducting research into autonomous (self-driving) road vehicles. While out there I fell back into the healthy habit of cycling regularly and enjoyed competing in some cycling events in Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. I am now back in London doing broader intelligent/future mobility work at the Connected Places Catapult.
It is with great sadness that we heard the news that James Pavitt ( class of 1997/98?) had died. James was a qualified pilot and first officer/captain. This was devastating news as he had just won a difficult custody battle for his three daughters. A Fund has been set up to raiseo raise money for his daughters’ education and will be overseen by James’ mother.
There was a service at St John’s church in Harpenden on Monday 12th November which was attended by familyand a very large number of his friends and colleagues.
Our thoughts go out to his family.
Emma studied Tourism and Travel Services Management at Oaklands College after leaving us and has carved out a career in this field. Emma has worked for many of the larger travel organisations and has gained extensive experience in all aspects of the travel business. Currently she is Travel Operations Manager at Apple Travel where she managing a team of 20 travel consultants, that book travel for Apple EMEIA.
After gaining a BA (hons) in Classical Studies from Reading University in 2001, Kate moved into Business Recruitment where she gained extensive experience before joining forces with a colleague to set up Pink Recruitment in 2005. In 2007, Kate set up KVR Consultants Ltd www.kvr-consultant which specialises in sourcing high calibre sales professionals for small to medium sized enterprises through to larger corporate companies. Kate lives locally.
Ned gained a BA(hons) degree in Multimedia Design from Southanpton Solent University in 2000. Since that time he has worked on web desins. He is currently a Learning Consultant with EON in Wales.
Rob studied at Cambridge University where he took Natural Sciences gaining a BA and MSci and also a Ph.D. in Engineering. He now lectures Computer Science at Cambridge University where he is a Fellow and Director of Studies at Downing college.
