Omar Shahryar2 2019In December 2018 Omar Shahryar (2003) appeared on Channel 4 News to talk about his pioneering opera for young people on the difficulties they face talking about the effects and causes of terrorism: https://www.channel4.com/news/students-stage-opera-about-terrorism-threat

‘A Shoe Full of Stars’ went on to win the Best Opera prize at the international Young Audience Music Awards held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, beating fierce competition from world-renowned opera houses. The project is now looking to tour the UK and Europe – keep an eye out for it at www.operaschmopera.co.uk.

2019 will see Omar’s next youth opera, The Magic Lantern, performed at London’s Royal Opera House, as well as him following in the footsteps of Dr Smith by becoming a Doctor (of music) himself.

Eddy gained a degree in Countryside Management from Harper Adams University. He then moved to New Zealand where he worked in marketing and management and a spell working in Auckland zoo. Back in the Uk, Eddy is involved in marketing and interior design. Currently he is a partner at Crest Interiors.

Lisa Willekens [2003]

Lisa gained a BA in Marketing and Public Relations from Leicester University. Her career in marketing began at the Council for Awards in Children’s Care & Education and then at The King’s Fund.  Lisa then joined the Whitbread Group as a Senior Restaurant & Marketing Executive. . She continued to work her way up in the Whitbread group as Brand Manager, Costa Marketing Communications Manager  to her current position as Marketing Progress Manager.

Lucy Choppin [2003]

Lucy gained a BA Hons in Performing Arts from De Montfort University. She worked at St Albans City & District Council as a Licensing Team Assistant and PA to the Head of Department. She then moved to a firm of accountants,ACCA, as a Disciplinary & Regulatory Committee Officer.  Lucy is now an Executive Assistant to the Country Manager & PA for the Directors at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Europe Ltd in London.

Sarah Graham [2003]

Sarah gained a BSc in Economics from the University of Nottingham.

After an internship at Bloombergs, Sarah joined the Graduate Programme as a UK Associate at Fortis Bank. From there she joined BNP Paribas as an Analyst in Acquisitions and Leveraged Finance. She moved up in the company as an Associate and is currently (2016) a Vice Principal in Leveraged Finance at BNP Paribas in London.

After leaving us in 2003, Laura went to the University of East Anglia to gain a degree in English Literature. Following that she gained her GDL and LPC from the College of Law in London.  After a spell as an Associate Solicitor at Reed Smith LLP she has moved and is now an Associate Solicitor at Lewis Silkin LLP where she is concerned with Real Estate & Development

Following her time at Roundwood, Emily went to Loughborough University to gain a BTec National Diploma in Art & Design and then gained a Certificate in Higher Education from the Open University in Education,Sports Exercise & Management. From there she took up the role of Sports dept. Coordinator at the University of the Nations in MT, USA. On return to the UK she was a group personal trainer and business assistant at Breathing Space Spa. Currently she is a Course Sales Advisor at YMCAfit.

Felicity Dynes 2003

Felicity gained a BA and an MA ( first class with distinction) in  Modern Languages [French & German] at Oxford. She then attended City University and BPP Law school to qualify in law.  After further training and experience in the legal profession, Felicity is now a Barrister in one of the London Chambers.

Casandra Tyler 2 2013

Casandra Tyler (2003)

After completing a Diploma in Child Care and Education.  Casandra went to Hertfordshire University where she gained a BSc (Hons) in Children’s Nursing in 2009.  Casandra has continued her professional development by completing the immediate care of patients with spinal cord injuries.  She has worked previously at Watford General Hospital within the acute children’s services.    Has since established her career within the specialised area of orthopaedics and is currently working at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital as a staff nurse.

Katharine Segal [2003 ]

After studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at Oxford University and graduating in 2006, Katharine’s career has developed in the field of accounts and digital innovation. She has also been a Senior Campaigner for Change.org and involved in supporting the digital campaigning for a US Senator.  Katharine is currently a Lead Organiser at FutureGov which deals with digital innovation and change.
