Congratulations to Alex Thomas who writes…..

I am writing to inform the Alumni Association with the good news that my PhD thesis in Archaeology and Anthropology at Bristol University has been accepted by my examiners. The thesis explored the archaeological and manuscript landscapes of the Danelaw Boundary of the late 9th century. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the timing of the result, I will graduate with my doctorate next summer.

Jonathan Bagnell (2008); A 2019 update

Jonathan spent 2019 living in Tokyo, Japan where he worked on delivering the VIP hospitality programme for Rugby World Cup 2019. After an exciting year he has now returned to London where he is a Senior Event Manager delivering the VIP partnership programmes in Formula 1.

Ellie Bultitude2 2011Ellie will be exhibiting her work at some upcoming art fairs and shows this summer.

 On a fine sunny weekend (9th – 10th June) on Harpenden common, Ellie, assisted by Mrs Bultitude, displayed and talked about her extensive art work in one of the many art tents.

She will also be exhibiting her accomplished and varied art work on the 6th – 8th July at the Cannual hildwickbury Arts Festival.

Bronze age finds 2017

Bronze age remains found under planned site for Harpenden’s 4th school.

Bronze age finds 2017A Herts County Council spokesperson has indicated that the archaeological evaluation on the site of the new school has revealed archaeological features potentially dating from the Bronze Age , Iron Age and Anglo Saxon periods. It was Alexander Thomas ( class of 2008 ), and Archaeological and Anthropological Ph.D. student, that undertook field work ( Ground Penetrating Radar) and suggested Roman Industrial buildings dating between 50-400AD.

Nathan gained a joint honours BA in Politics & Philosophy from the University of Liverpool.

Isabelle gained a first class honours BSc from the University of Manchester in International Business, Finance and Economics. She then qualified as a chartered accountant and is currently a Hedge Fund Accountant at GSACapital.

Tanya Khasru Tanee’s opens new Talent Tutoring business.

Tanya (class of 2008) has opened a new Tutoring company – Talent Tutoring across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. Talent Tutoring is a classroom based teaching up to 8 children in English, Maths and Science. Christie Welch [2008]

Christie gained a BSc in Psychology from the University of Bournemouth. Christie did an internship at Breast Cancer as a Community Fund raiser.  She has continued her career in charitable fund raising taking up positions at the Marie Curie Institute in London where she is currently an Individual Giving Fund Raiser.

Liam Klimek [2008]

Liam obtained a BSc in Music Production from Leeds Metropolitan University. Liam gained experience in events management whilst at university and then moved into the music and media business with an internship with Tapestry MM Ltd. Following a series of positions relating to events management of creative and musical events, Liam then acted as a mentor at Young & Laced to use his musical and brand experience in the development of youth culture in London. He became the lead music consultant at Audio Network. He then co-founded a new media company called Edifeye, which provides insights into the careers of creative entrepreneurs and aspiring creatives. At the same time he became the New Business Manager at Boiler Room (the world’s biggest online music broadcaster and the leading community of underground music fans) in London.

Elliot gained a BA (hons) degree in Psychology from the University of Sheffield. He then gained a PGCE in elementary education and teaching from the Institute of Education ( University of London). He then experienced a variety of occupations from business credit control, crew member for Easy Jet, and two years doing Teach First at a primary school, before going back to retail management where he is currently a Planning Manager at Sainsbury’s in London.
