Rachel Ferguson, class of 2006, studied at the University of Cambridge. She had embarked on a charity cycle ride from Munich to Trieste in northern Italy through the Austrian Alps stopping in Salzburg, Ljubljana and some lesser known European towns on route. They set off on the challenge aiming to raise funds for Unicef, Water Aid, World Land Trust and the Red Cross at the end of May.
Unfortunately Rachel had an accident on the fifth and final day, having already done the hard graft covering 420 miles and climbing inclines of up to 15%. An ambulance returned her to Ljubljana. Rachel is pleased to report their A&E is a highly efficient operation and thankfully she escaped with only a broken wrist and a fine by the Slovenian police for “dangerous driving”. Her helmet, layers of clothing and a well stocked back pocket of sandwiches broke her fall. She says “I’ll definitely never be cycling without a helmet, though a new one is on order. I will however ensure I’m cycling with a lawyer next time”.
Given that Rachel almost completed her charity cycle journey she would appreciate any donations. https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/CBRE-M2T

Redbourn property manager scoops top Sunday Times business award.
Reagan Bradley of Redbourn won ‘Best Lettings Property Manager of 2013’ at the annual awards despite only working for Sewell & Gardner for three years. The former Roundwood Park student has moved up the company quickly, starting out as a negotiator, and then becoming the Director’s PA before being promoted to the Head of Property Management. The judges were wowed by her proactive nature and brilliant performance. Reagan said “to have recognition at that level this early in my career is really fantastic”. She admitted that “I was the youngest candidate I imagine so it is a real fantasy”. She added “I am really only starting to make my mark and make significant changes – so it is nice to know I am going in the right direction”.

Liverpool crush Everton 4-1 ; June 4th 2013
Liverpool Ladies produced a magnificent performance to sink Everton 4-1 at the Arriva Stadium, Marine FC, last night.
Matt Beard’s side strengthened their lead at the top of the Women’s Super League, playing some superb football at times.
Before a ball was kicked the Reds boss suffered a blow when his two regular goalkeepers were both ruled out, so emergency signing from Sunderland Rachel Laws made her debut.
Played out in front of a crowd of 1,124, Beard’s side started well and created several good openings before they took the lead after 34 minutes when German ace Nicole Rolser pounced to make it 1-0 following a scramble in the box.
The Blues equalised after the restart when Jill Scott pounced but back came the Reds and Swedish star Louise Fors netted to make it 2-1.
German defender Corina Shroder made it 3-1 before goal machine Natasha Dowie netted against her old club.
Report from the Liverpool Echo.
Kate Borthwick was married to Colin Peel on Saturday 4th May 2013. Kate attended Roundwood Park from 1989-1996 and now owns, and is Company Director of, her own private tennis coaching company called ‘Tennis Angels’. We wish them every happiness.

First treble for Kiff: Women’s Football
‘St Albans City Ladies recorded a much needed 3-0 win against Dunstable Town Ladies on Sunday. City dominated from the first whistle. They went ahead as Kelly Hancock drove towards the Dunstable goal and pulled it back to Megan Kiff, whose shot rippled the back of the net. With consistent effort from City, Kiff was teed up beautifully by Sophie Joseph to score her second of the match with a lovely touch round the keeper.
Saints again started the second half strongly. Coral Clayton found a burst of pace to drag one of the Dunstable players to create space for Kiff , to pounce on the incoming ball, She put the game out of reach of the opposition and sealed her first hat-trick for the club. That also secured the three points for City’.
Megan followed up this hat trick with another winning goal the following week.
