After leaving Roundwood Park, Saul Wilson ( class of 2004), he attended the University of Cardiff for five years, where he fully qualified as a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery. He has spent the past years on rotation, working for two years for NHS Grampian in Aberdeen and then on Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. He is now in A&E at the most remote UK Hospital of Gilbert Bain in Lerwick, Shetlands. He will appear in a BBC documentary , Island Medics, scheduled to be televised on BBC1 on December 6th at 0915-1000h. Alternatively it can be viewed on the BBC iPlayer.
Dr Wilson will need to use all his skills and rely on the vast experience of Shetland’s nursing staff if he is to provide the care required.
Away from the hospital, viewers will get to meet the doctor working on the isle of Unst – the most northerly practice in the United Kingdom. And two of the new junior doctors take to the water to try out a popular Shetland hobby.”
